Lent 2009 (2) – Breath deeply

The Lord is the everlasting God… He does not faint or grow weary… He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31

Lent is a time for waiting on God. As the prophet Isaiah proclaims, God will strengthen and empower us. That’s who God is. He does not weary. He is everlastingly full of Spirit. And he is a God who gives his strength to us.

Lent is a time to breathe in deeply the Holy Spirit and to be inspired (to have life breathed into us). We want to wait on God and listen to his promise to renew our strength. God promises to share his life, his abundant life, with us. He strengthens. He empowers. He shall give us wings. Breathe out all that distracts and detracts from God. Breathe in the Spirit he sends to us.
